The Montreal RM 101 Course: A Clear Success
The second edition of the Canadian RM 101 program took place successfully at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec on August 16-17, 2004. Renamed Research Manager 101 (RM 101), from it’s previous title “DA 101” and adapted to the Canadian context, the program was offered for the first time both in French and English with 134 participants from all over Canada in attendance. Carolyn Adams-Smith (Secretary-Treasurer, SRA Canada), Jim Hanlon (Past-President, Non-Profit Division), Robert Hanlon (President, SRA Canada), Gilles Morier, Michael Owen (President, SRA International), Tim Quigg (Chair of the RM 101 program), Luc Simon (President Elect, SRA Canada) and Myriam Bouroche (Past president, SRA Canada and Chair of the RM 101 for 2004), were all presenting for the occasion.
This team will now concentrate its efforts on adapting the DA 201 course to the Canadian environment and plans to offer the RM 201 course in a two-day session in 2005. A third edition of the RM 101 will also be offered next year, potentially in Vancouver, British Columbia. The team will be kept busy since the 2006 SRA Annual Meeting will be held in Quebec City.
