Call for Milestones
Announcing this year's initiative for the publication and presentation of Milestones of Accomplishment Displays for the Annual International Meeting of the Society of Research Administrators International being held October 17-21, 2009 in Seattle, Washington.
Submission, selection, and display procedures will be processed through a series of successive review and award panels under the leadership of the Program Directors and Executive Staff.
To assist with submission processes, the following materials are provided as downloads:
However, the following pertain specifically:
Regarding Milestones:
A. Topics: Topics for Milestones must be directly related to the body of knowledge of research administration. Specific possibilities might be case studies or summaries, reports of research administration successes or milestones, reports on innovative programs of operation etc. Entries are ways by which institutions can display, market and disseminate information about successful research administration milestones. The purpose of these displays is to foster discovery and innovation among research administration colleagues and their institutions. Displays are expected to be in form of traditional "posters" for the SRA Symposium.
B. Notices of Intent: Not later than September 3, 2009, colleagues can submit Notices Of Inte nt (NOI) by email at: symposium@srainternational.org to the Symposium Program Directors. Within the body of a text of an email, authors are required to submit a preliminary title, list of potential co-authors, and a brief summary of what is being proposed for presentation. NOI's will be reviewed by the Symposium Chair for selection. Criteria for preliminary selection will include whether the proposed milestone concept is germane to research administration and consistent with the goals of the Symposium program. If selected, the Symposium Program Directors will send to the submitting author the Milestone Proposal Template for completion. Directions must be followed strictly including word limits.
C. Display Preparations and Submissions: From summary acceptance onward, authors are encouraged to work with the Symposium Posters and Milestones Coordinator (see below) regarding potential concepts and plans for displays. Questions regarding display format and production suggestions are to be directed to the Coordinator. Beginning on Sunday, October 18, 2009 but no later than the next morning at 8am, authors must display their Milestones on bulletin boards provided by the conference facility. Conference poster boards measure a maximum of 8 feet wide by 4 feet high. Poster displays must stay within those limits. Authors are to bring their own pushpins, etc. The text of an author's summary must be displayed with the poster itself. To this end, the summary may be placed directly into the poster (preferable) or placed adjacently in some fashion.
