New Membership Offering – Odyssey Program

SRAI IS PILOTING A MENTOR PROGRAM AND NEEDS YOUR PARTICIPATION

“Colleagues are a wonderful thing – but mentors, that’s where the real work gets done.” — Junot Diaz

Have you wanted a mentor? Have you wanted to be a mentor? Are you not sure how to arrange a great mentor/mentee partnership? SRAI has a terrific opportunity for any of you that have been asking these questions.

Throughout time, the term “mentor” has become synonymous with someone who is trusted, wise, and able to guide us through a professional and even personal period of growth in our lives. “Mentor” was an actual Greek counselor in Homer’s poem The Odyssey. Mentor was trusted to oversee and teach the king of Ithaca’s (Odysseus) son, Telemachus while Odysseus was away at war.

While we don’t fight actual wars, thank goodness, our stresses between work, home, and other commitments can be difficult to manage. We can reach out and find that many others have maneuvered their way through some of the same scenarios and grown professionally and personally along the way.

SRAI has developed a mentoring program, the ODYSSEY PROGRAM, to identify mentor/mentee partnerships where we hope that you can all gain the knowledge from each other over months or even years. Many times, lifelong relationships can form from these opportunities.

Who are we looking for? I am so glad you are asking yourself this question!

  • We invite those of you who have been interested in sharing your expertise and giving back to the research administration community to be a mentor to those that are coming into the field or those that are looking for something new in the field.
  • We are looking for those that are either new to the field and want to gain insights from the many talented experts that we have in our midst of SRAI. You don’t have to be new, however! If you are interested in something new or setting a new course for yourself, this a great opportunity to reach out and learn from others who have done it or have a great passion for our field.

Submit your application to be a Mentor or Mentee by November 15!
