Metrics – the analysis of numerous data to measure results – has become a standard method for evaluating academic performance. With modern computing power, universities can now mine large data sources and, using predictive algorithms, make decisions based on seemingly objective metric criteria. But, beware: unless it is used properly, this powerful technique can be misguiding. In this webinar, the application of metrics in research assessment and evaluation will be introduced. Attention will focus on the proper use of quantitative information in the decision-making process and the implementation of institutional strategic priorities.
This webinar is intended for the extended academic community. It is suitable for all levels and the speaker will provide the background necessary for beginners to understand the more advanced topics.
- Analyze the use of metrics critically.
