Many non-profits and other organizations must engage in the process of negotiating federal indirect rates. Non-profits face unique challenges in preparing, submitting and negotiating indirect rates. As we go through this process, many of us often wonder if we've done everything we can do within the constraints of federal regulations in order to maximize our institution's negotiated indirect rate and resulting indirect cost recovery. In this webinar, the presenter will discuss indirect costs (Facilities and Administrative) in general terms, what are they and how to get recovery for them and how some non-profit organizations get reimbursed in different ways. We will discuss the rate preparation and negotiation process and attendees will be encouraged to identify their experiences concerning the indirect rate process. The presenter will also discuss the impact the Uniform Guidance has on the reimbursement of indirect costs and how some recent changes have impacted it.
- Understand what indirect costs (facilities and administrative costs) are and how to get reimbursed for them and the different government entities that negotiate rates.
- Identify the ways different types of awards reimburses an award for indirect costs and how the Uniform Guidance has impacted it.
- Understand some quick rule changes that might be helpful to get reimbursed for IDC and to reimburse Subrecipients.
- Identify how the Uniform Guidance distinguishes the rules between different types of entities.
