Director, Research Outreach and Compliance
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
SRA International members rock! As research management and administration professionals, they never stop improving, learning, achieving, or earning new heights of success. We love sharing good news and offering a well-deserved slap on the back for recent personal and/or professional achievement. In keeping with that sentiment, please join with us as we congratulate Elizabeth Adams on her new position at a new Institution!
SRA International is a professional networking community of learners. One way to gain knowledge and expertise is to share our stories of successful achievements with our peers and colleagues. Often research managers/administrators are cast in the role of promoting, supporting and applauding others. While this may be gratifying in many respects, it is also healthy to have pride in one’s own accomplishments. Kudos Korner offers SRA International members a wonderful and respectful venue for sharing and “bragging.”
Transitions – New Position/Institution
Director, Office of Research and Project Administration
SRAI member since 2018
On August 13, 2018, Elizabeth Adams assumed her new position as Director of the Office of Research and Project Administration (ORPA) at Princeton University, which has a staff of 18 people who provide support and guidance to researchers and departmental administrators on sponsored research and project administration.
As director, she is responsible for ensuring a customer-service culture across ORPA’s operation; overseeing infrastructure and business processes related to sponsored research; ensuring grant- and contract-related compliance with federal, state and local regulations; and providing leadership on all aspects of the research enterprise.
Adams has two decades of experience in research and project administration at universities in the United States.
“Princeton has a scholarly tradition that is extraordinarily distinguished, and it is among the world’s great research institutions, which is tremendously inspiring,” said Adams. “It is also a wonderful community in which to work and live. I am very excited to join Dean Debenedetti and the outstanding staff in the Office of the Dean for Research, ORPA, and across the University supporting research. An early focus for me will be the optimal use of technology and data supporting the research enterprise to increase efficiency, improve decision-making and reduce burden among faculty and administrators.” (Source: https://www.princeton.edu/news/2018/08/06/adams-named-director-office-research-and-project-administration)
