Contract Negotiations Series

Designed for anyone in the research administration profession
who has ever had to negotiate a research agreement!

Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. Eastern
July 25 - August 22, 2012

This five-part Webinar series is designed to facilitate the complex and occasionally frustrating and prolonged process of negotiating contracts for sponsored research agreements. Faculty, necessarily, want to get the research started. Research administrators are charged with the responsibility of ensuring the research, the investigators, and the institution are well protected, and the research can proceed in a timely, appropriate manner.  Negotiating agreements requires a learned skill.  Many research administrators are asked to handle agreements without the tool box needed for successful negotiation, whether it be with local, national or internationally-based industries, governments or non-governmental organization.

Essentials for the Research Administrator Webinar Series

All research administrators need certain essential skills, regardless of their role or the size or type of organization. While different research organization have different policies and practices, many of the elements of pre- and post-award are standard. The reasons vary from lack of certain compliance approvals to incomplete information on the award document. This Webinar will outline the most common and critical reasons for holding up establishment of an award and provide suggestions and best practicies for moving forward.
