Note from the Editor | April Showers Bring May Flowers…and a New Normal

As I attempted to write this month’s Note from the Editor, the phrase “April showers bring May flowers” kept coming back to me. I suppose it’s fitting – we’ve had a tough year with the pandemic and there’s hope on the horizon that we are and will slowly get back to a new normal.

rain_on_flowers.jpgIn WFH Tips & Tricks, Carly Pigg reflects on getting back to that normal as she prepared to return to her office. For the monthly poll, Heather Brown invites us to disclose what we are most looking forward to upon our return and what we will be most sad to leave at home. I know I’ll miss my nonexistent commute even as I appreciate seeing colleagues on campus, a sentiment I am sure I share with many of you.

This month we wrap up our four-part series on Foreign Influence and our two-part segment on Adaptive Work in Research Administration During Covid-19. If you’ve missed the prior articles, they are available on our site and I highly recommend checking them out.

Finally, last month my co-editor, Terry Campbell, introduced the new Catalyst layout. As we move into our second month with the new design, we again encourage you to let us know what you think so that we can better serve you, our readers. As always, we also invite you to submit an article to the Catalyst, contribute to our Tiny Victories column, or share a Monthly Poll idea.
