Beyond the Basics: Critical Thinking in Research Administration

The evolving demands of research administration require more than just familiarity with institutional handbooks and established procedures. As research becomes more interdisciplinary, global, and high-stakes, administrators must learn to navigate complexity, manage ambiguity, and make informed, risk-aware decisions where clear-cut answers don't always exist. Success in this space demands not only procedural knowledge but the critical thinking skills to apply it in unpredictable, nuanced scenarios.

Participants in this in-person intensive will strengthen their ability to think analytically and strategically when facing compliance challenges, ethical dilemmas, and organizational gray areas. Through immersive exercises including case studies, role-playing, and situational analysis, attendees will build a toolkit of decision-making frameworks that foster confidence, consistency, and clarity in their day-to-day work.
