Note from the Editor | Happy Holidays!
It’s hard to believe that another year is coming to an end and it’s time once again for New Year’s resolutions. I’ve had the same resolution for the past twenty years—to stop procrastinating! And, as I write this column on the day after it is due to Dilyana at SRAI headquarters, I see that in 2019 I’ve failed again to meet that resolution.
I’d like to blame procrastination on my career choice. Much of what we do in research administration and management is reactive rather than proactive. Sadly, I think this is a weak argument. So I’ve decided to give up on setting New Year’s resolutions. Instead, I am setting goals. A top goal in 2020 is to continue to promote and take advantage of SRAI’s outstanding educational opportunities. I am excited to hear about members’ experiences with the new LevelUp program. I’m also looking forward to chapter and section meetings. Consider submitting speaking proposals for one or more of the meetings, including the 2020 Annual Meeting that will be held in Boston. You’ll find more information on upcoming events and how to submit speaking proposals in this month’s edition of the Catalyst.
I hope to see many of you at SRAI events in 2020. I encourage all of you to share my goal and take advantage of the exceptional educational offerings that SRAI provides.
The Catalyst editors and volunteers wish you all a peaceful, happy, and prosperous 2020. We’d also like to thank Dilyana Williams and other SRAI staffers who provide invaluable support and guidance to the Catalyst Committee. Have a wonderful holiday season!
