SRAI Intensive Training Programs Re-invented

Not many people embrace change. It can be scary and overwhelming. One thing the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us is that nothing stays the same and that to survive we need to be flexible, open-minded, and embrace new ideas.

As a result, SRAI has had to make some hard decisions and quick changes to the way they have presented content in the past. Many of SRAI’s long-standing in-person training programs and meetings have fallen victim to the global pandemic and world-wide shut down. Yet our members are still in need of networking support and high-quality professional development.

In April, instead of the Northeast/Midwest Section meeting in Philadelphia, the iSRAI virtual meeting that spanned over three consecutive days and offered a choice of 12 different topic sessions each day, was born. Our speakers did an amazing job of converting their material to the Zoom format and reached folks all over the world from the comfort of their homes. Attended by over 500 people, by all accounts this first virtual event was a resounding success!

However, the innovation does not stop there. As summer approaches, more in-person events have had to be canceled. SRAI’s Spring Intensives slated for Seattle in May and the Summer Intensives slated for Minneapolis in July have also fallen victim to COVID-19. However, do not fear, because now we have three exciting new virtual programs to offer that can be accessed from anywhere!

iSRAI Training Intensives

Starting the last week in June, SRAI will be offering three unique, small cohort programs. Each will be limited to 30-35 people. There will be interactive live Zoom classes led by experienced subject matter experts, supported by small group online communities in CONNECT for networking and group activities, and self-paced LevelUP modules. Programs will fill up quickly, so reserve your spot today.

Basics of Research Administration

June 29 - August 3, 2020
This online program was developed for research administrators new to the field with less than 2 years’ experience. The content is designed to provide a broad awareness across research administration. Participants will self-train at their own pace with micro-credentialing modules, then participate in six 60-minute cohort sessions online to discuss key elements and review course concepts. At the end of the course, participants will receive a Level III LevelUP Badge. Click here for more information about SRAI’s LevelUP program.

Instructors: Jennie Amison and Judy Bristow

Research Leadership Intensive

June 29 - August 7, 2020
The Research Leadership Intensive will occur over a six-week period. The cohort will meet Monday and Wednesday evenings at 5:00 PM ET for 90-minute sessions. Online classes will also be recorded and available for 30 days following the program. Research, technology and innovation are becoming ever more complex. Success requires vision and focused research management leadership. The Research Leadership Intensive online training program explores theory, skills, strategies, and best practices for leading successfully in a research management environment.

Science & Security: Facilitating a Compliant and Inclusive Research Environment in the Wake of Foreign Influence Concerns
June 30 - July 28, 2020
This online training program will occur over a five-week period. The cohort will meet Tuesday evenings at 5:00 PM ET for 75-minute sessions. Online classes will also be recorded and available for 30 days following the program. The program will provide participants with a deep dive into facing the challenges that have arisen over “foreign influence” in US research which has created an increasingly turbulent environment.
