Special Issue on Inclusion and Diversity | SRAI Journal of Research Administration
SRAI members are invited to submit a manuscript for a special issue of the Journal of Research Administration. The focus of this issue is to highlight the essential role research administrators – either through their own efforts or as partners with other administrative and academic units - execute to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion among faculty, administrators, and staff. Our hope is to receive submissions that provide a representative sampling of the effective ways research offices, research administrators, and others have improved and enhanced the recruitment, retention, and promotion of women and those from diverse and underrepresented groups at their institutions. These actions can be in central administration, at college, or departmental levels, or in other organizational units. As noted, they may be in partnership with other units, as parts of institution-wide equity initiatives, or through changes primarily within research offices. They may include policies and practices, special initiatives, programmatic efforts, combinations, or other avenues. Of particular interest are such efforts that affect representation in STEM fields or those that include lessons from effective efforts to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion in other units and/or that have institution-wide implications.
If your institution has developed a successful diversity, equity, and inclusion initiative highlighting the critical role of research administrators either separately or with their institutional partners, we hope you take this opportunity to share it with the readers/members of JRA/SRAI so research administrators across the globe may be ever more effective participants in these important efforts.
