Special Issue on Inclusion and Diversity | SRAI Journal of Research Administration
Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to share this invitation to submit a manuscript for a special issue of the Journal of Research Administration. The focus of this issue is to highlight the essential role that research administrators can and often do play through their own efforts or in partnership with other administrative and academic units to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion among faculty, administrators, and staff. Our hope is to receive submissions that provide a representative sampling of the many ways in which research offices, research administrators, and others have taken effective actions to enhance the recruitment, retention, and promotion of women and those from diverse and underrepresented groups at their institutions. These actions can be in central administration, at college or departmental levels, or in other organizational units. As noted, they may be in partnership with other units, as parts of institution-wide equity initiatives, or through changes primarily within research offices. They may include policies and practices, special initiatives, programmatic efforts, combinations, or other avenues. We are particularly interested in such efforts as they impact representation in STEM fields or those that include lessons from effective efforts to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion in other units and/or that have institution-wide implications.
If your institution has developed a successful initiative regarding equity, diversity, and inclusion in which actions and initiatives by research administrators have played a critical role, separately or with their institutional partners, we truly hope you take this opportunity to share it with the readers/members of JRA/SRAI so that research administrators across the globe may be ever more effective participants in these important efforts.
