Michigan Chapter 2021 Officer Transitions
Happy summer to all those in the Michigan chapter and SRAI as a whole. It is an exciting time where we are reemerging from our long slumber of the last 12+ months. It is reminiscent of the Brood X Cicadas that many of us have been dealing with recently. But we’re a much quieter bunch that’s for sure!!
I am writing today to officially announce the Michigan Chapter's new officers. As with last year, we are announcing our leadership changes virtually as we are unable to host a traditional chapter conference this summer. We are very hopeful that next year (2022) we will back to our regularly scheduled programming.
I am pleased to announce that Stacey Althouse, CRA, our current President Elect, transitions to President effective July 1. Stacey is the Director of Research Administration for the Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan. Stacey has 20+ years of experience in Research Administration, both in pre and post award of grants, contracts, and clinical trials, both at the department and central-office level. She looks forward to hosting our upcoming Chapter Chats and meeting everyone in person at our next conference! Welcome Stacey to helm of the Michigan SRAI Chapter!!
I am also very pleased to announce our new President Elect effective July 1, Heather Hazzard. Heather is currently the Chief of Staff for the Institute of Quantitative Health Science & Engineering and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Michigan State University, a position she has held since 2017. Prior to her most recent role, Heather has been a department manager and research administrator of various departments, both at Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. Research Administration has been Heather’s passion for the last 15+ years and she is very eager to begin serving the chapter as President Elect. When asked about what she is looking forward to in joining the chapter in a leadership role, Heather said, “I hope to bring new perspectives to grant management, departmental organization, and increasing team unity as well as learn more about the SRAI organization and the Michigan Chapter. I want to thank everyone for your support in this new role!” Welcome Heather, to the leadership team of the Michigan SRAI Chapter!
In addition to President and President Elect, Nicholas Prieur was re-elected Treasurer for another two-year term. Nick is a Research Administration Senior Manager in the Institute for Social Research (University of Michigan), where he manages an administrative hub of professionals that support three large, social science research programs in the Survey Research Center. Having served for two terms as MI SRAI Treasurer previously, he’s looking forward to continuing to work with research administrators across Michigan and is hopeful to see you all in person very soon at the next MI SRAI meeting.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Melissa Karby who has completed her Immediate Past President role. We will miss Melissa on the board and are thankful for all of her efforts to improve the chapter over the last three years.
Finally, David Mulder is transitioning into the role of Immediate Past President. Please watch for communications from David in late 2021 or early 2022 for our next round of elections. If you are interested in becoming more involved in the chapter, please email us at msragroup@gmail.com.
