Things to Do Personally and Professionally
The 2021 SRAI Annual Meeting is just a few short weeks away!
Annual Meetings bring a wealth of learning experiences to our members. We are presented a wide array of sessions and workshops, discuss hot topics, are provided useful take-aways, and leave with valuable knowledge that will help us in our careers.
This year’s meeting plan has been challenging - add to the regular plan a global pandemic and a major hurricane making landfall very near our meeting site. But our members will not be outdone! The 2021 Annual Meeting will provide plenty of workshops and sessions (with a few quick talks sprinkled in) that will appeal to all members. Dr. Neill Lamb of Hudson Alpha Institute will open the meeting with an engaging keynote presentation. The opening reception sponsored by Cayuse promises to be great fun with a Bayou Bash theme – no dressing up for this event! There will be social time for the Sections to meet up. New members will be invited to attend a special event and will have an opportunity to dine together afterward. We will honor members who have contributed to SRAI and will celebrate research administration professionals who are the Future of the Field.
After the SRAI day is done, NOLA doesn’t sleep. Dining, entertainment, and culture all wait for you in and around the city. From swamp tours to the World War II Museum to five-star dining, this city has it all. Check out www.neworleans.com, the city’s official tourism site, for great information on dining options, events, and things to do during your time in NOLA.
If you are arriving over the weekend, don’t miss the Krewe of Boo! which rolls Saturday night, October 23. Started in 2007 (with a pause after Katrina), the popular event features marching bands, dance troupes, and walking krewes – all parading this year in front of the meeting’s host hotel.
Plan your day for professional fulfillment and fill your night with entertainment. NOLA has it all!
See you in New Orleans!
