My name is Pamela Denise Montgomery, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for the position of At-Large Board Member on the Board of Directors for the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI).
For over twenty years, I have served the research community at Duke University in various capacities, starting as a subject matter expert in sponsored programs administration and finance, and extending to workshop facilitation to mentor others. I bring a wealth of expertise and experience that I believe will contribute to guiding the vision of SRAI.
I am dedicated, responsible, motivated, and a self-starter. My dedication is evident in my commitment to seeing projects through from beginning to end. As the daughter of a farmer, I learned the values of hard work, dedication, and perseverance early on. These values have been the cornerstone of my career as an educator in public schools and colleges, a public administration intern for the city manager, and in leadership roles in research administration.
My involvement with SRAI has been both extensive and fulfilling. As a member of SRAI’s North Carolina chapter from 1999 until its dissolution in 2023, I held multiple positions, including:
- President
- President-Elect
- Immediate Past President
- Treasurer
- Co-chair Planning Committee
- Chair Membership Subcommittee
- Newcomers Committee
I have also volunteered for the Southern Section and the SRAI Annual Meetings. My roles have included:
- President, Southern Section
- President-Elect, Southern Section
- Immediate Past President, Southern Section
- Planning Committee, Southern Section
- Newcomers Committee, Southern Section and SRAI
- Subaward Committee, SRAI
Whenever and wherever I am needed, I am there. My involvement with SRAI has also rekindled my passion for teaching. I have served as a visiting lecturer and have presented multiple times at SRAI meetings, the international annual meetings, and other venues across the state and nation.
In my personal time, I am deeply committed to community and state volunteer work as an Emerging Leader. My husband and I started a summer enrichment camp in 1998, which has grown from four children to hosting 30 campers each year for exciting learning and physical activities.
