Together We Go Far: A Vision for SRAI Leadership

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” – African proverb.

I am running for the SRAI At-Large Board Member position because I believe deeply in the power of research and research administration in shaping the future of discovery. Behind every major research achievement is a dedicated group of professionals like me, our community, who ensure that the work is supported, ethical, and positioned to create meaningful impact. This community has played a powerful role in my professional journey, and I would be honored to give back through service and leadership.

At the University of Notre Dame, I serve as Director of Research Project Management. In this role, I lead an intelligent and dynamic team that supports complex and interdisciplinary research programs. Each day, we navigate complex sponsor requirements, institutional priorities, and the varying needs of faculty. We build thoughtful systems that are strategic, flexible, and centered on people. I believe this forward thinking yet flexible and people-centered approach would be just as impactful in service to the SRAI Board. If elected, I will bring my full self and best efforts to this role. I am ready to contribute to strategic planning and actively participate to support the committees that move our Society forward with integrity and intention.

Looking ahead, I see several meaningful opportunities for SRAI:

First, I believe that we must continue to invest in leadership development. From early career professionals to well respected subject matter experts, every member should have access to clear, inclusive, and intentional pathways for growth. Our field is evolving, but our beloved community is smaller than it once was, and the landscape is much more uncertain. Now is the time to strengthen and expand existing successful mentorship programs, offer intentional and thought-provoking training, and open more structured opportunities to help our community members step into society and leadership roles in the field.

Second, we can build stronger connections across institutions and roles. Our profession is full of innovation, but we often work in silos. I believe that SRAI can serve as a more robust central hub where members share ideas, tools, templates, strategies, and stories that inspire change. I know that with more connections we can elevate each other and move our work forward better and more efficiently.

Third, I believe we must continue to work toward raising the visibility and importance of our profession. Research administrators are essential to the success of discovery and innovation. SRAI should continue to shape national conversations, influence policy, and form global partnerships that reflect our value and expertise. Now, more than ever, our impact must be visible, and our voices heard.

As a board member, I will bring a thoughtful and steady, people-centered approach. I believe that leading with heart, caring for people, and helping others succeed are the keys to long term progress.

SRAI has given me confidence, connection, and a clear sense of who I am as a research professional. It would be an honor to give that back by further serving this community. I am ready to step up and help shape the next chapter of the Society, one where every member, regardless of title or institution, feels seen, supported, and inspired. Thank you for considering me for this opportunity! Best of luck to all the candidates! We are in this together!
