Leading Forward: Why I’m Running for At-Large Board Member and My Vision for SRAI’s Future

By SRAI News posted 5 days ago

For more than two decades, my career has been shaped by the belief that research administration is not just a profession – it is a calling. I’ve had the privilege of serving in roles across clinical research, cradle-to-grave, finance, operations, and strategic leadership, from Cincinnati Children’s, University of Cincinnati, to TriHealth, Inc., to founding Clinical Research Analytics, Inc. Along the way, SRAI has been the constant thread that strengthened my skills, expanded my perspective, and connected me to a community that feels like home.

My journey with SRAI began in 2009, and since then I’ve served as Midwest Section President/Secretary/Treasurer, Distinguished Faculty, various committee as both members and chair, mentor, speaker, and most recently as an Ad Hoc Board Member. Each role has deepened my appreciation for the Society’s impact: we elevate people, we elevate institutions, and we elevate the PROFESSION itself. That is why I am running for At-Large Board Member – to help ensure SRAI continues to lead, innovate, and inspire.

Why I’m Running

I am running because SRAI is at an inflection point. Our field is changing rapidly – technology, compliance, workforce expectations, and research complexity are evolving faster than ever. Institutions are navigating staffing shortages, rising regulatory pressure, and the need for more integrated, data driven systems. Research administrators are being asked to do more, know more, and lead more.

SRAI must continue to be the organization that equips professionals to meet these challenges with confidence.

My goal as an At-Large Board Member is to strengthen three pillars:

  1. Professional Identity and Recognition - Research administration deserves broader visibility and respect across academia, healthcare, and industry. SRAI is uniquely positioned to champion that recognition.
  2. Workforce Development and Mentorship - From Odyssey mentees to emerging leaders, we must continue building pathways that grow talent, retain expertise, and support career mobility.
  3.  Innovation and Modernization - Technology is reshaping our field – AI, automation, integrated financial systems, and data-driven decision making. SRAI should lead the conversation, not follow it.

Where I See the Future of SRAI

The future of SRAI is bold, global, and collaborative. I envision a Society that:

  • Expands its international footprint, strengthening cross-border learning and harmonizing best practices.
  • Leads the profession in technology literacy, helping members navigate AI, automation, and digital transformation with clarity and confidence.
  • Builds stronger bridges between central offices, departments, clinical research programs, and industry partners, recognizing that research administration is now an ecosystem, not a silo.
  • Continues elevating the human side of our work—leadership, communication, culture, and resilience—because technical expertise alone is not enough.
  • Creates a future-ready workforce, equipped with the skills, tools, and mindset to thrive in a rapidly evolving research landscape.

SRAI has always been at its best when it embraces change with optimism and purpose. I believe deeply in this community and in the people who make it extraordinary. Serving as an At Large Board Member would be an honor, and I am committed to helping YOU continue to grow, innovate, and lead our profession forward.
