Finding Funding: The Role of Development in Research Administration

Understanding extramural funding and the resources available can be a daunting task for research administrators. Requests from PIs to help with this endeavor are ever increasing. How should you position yourself to add value and service to your PIs? This webinar will help departmental research administrators understand basic differences in extramural funding and why that is important. The presenter will discuss and review types and sources of funding and illustrate the importance of determining and developing funding priorities and targets for your department and/or investigators. The webinar will discuss research funding as an extension of the development process working in conjunction and/or in addition to a development office. Discover what your funding resources are and how to survey that information effectively to ensure the funding source requests are in-line with your organizational mission and goals. Additionally, the speaker will touch on the importance of having a funding strategy and diversified portfolio for your researchers and best practices in disseminating and tracking funding opportunities.
