Note from the Editor | Setting the Tone for the New Year

Happy 2023! We hope you had a refreshing and relaxing holiday season filled with family, friends, and fun. As we set the tone for a new year filled with promise and optimism, this month’s Catalyst highlights topics of relevance to research administrators, provides professional development perspectives, and underscores the creativity of our SRAI readers.

Hot topics this month include the development of the newly funded SRAI Research Security Training Program described by Gloria Greene in the View from the Top and a featured spotlight on Research Data and Responsible Publication, part one of a series by Carly Pigg.

Additionally, Sean Scott reflects on the state of the research administration profession, Olumide Odeyemi describes navigating the career maze, and Katherine Bui and Mark Lucas highlight the importance of mentor/mentee relationships

And on the lighter side, Vanessa Greer Ettema shares insights gleaned from Korean soap operas in the Secret Life of a Research Administrator, Heather Darling uses her research administration skills to purchase Taylor Swift concert tickets, and Mark Lucas narrates for one of our research administrators-in-training in My Mommy is a Research Administrator

Thank you to all our contributors and volunteers, new and returning. 2023, here we come - ready, set, go!
