I am pleased to start 2025 with this incredible opportunity to serve you, our profession and Society as your new Editor. I would like to start by introducing myself and then giving you an overview of the new format we will implement for Catalyst starting in March.
My name is Farida Lada, and I started my journey in the field of research administration and compliance at UCLA in 2021. Since then, I have had many new and amazing experiences, including the opportunity to train IRB members in South Korea, start up a research compliance program in Qatar, restructure research compliance at CUNY, and the most gratifying experience of founding the Master of Science in Research Administration and Compliance Program at CUNY School of Professional Studies. I have now branched out to the greater compliance world and serve as the Chief Campus Compliance Officer for UCSF.
Our team is very excited about rolling out a new format for Catalyst next month. Each monthly issue will be divided into 6 categories, and our goal is to provide you with an article in each category: i) Grant Development & Strategy (Pre-Award); ii) Grant Management & Financial Oversight (Post-Award); iii) Regulatory & Compliance Oversight; iv) Career Growth & Leadership; v) Community & Member Engagement; and vi) Operations & Workflow Management. The monthly issues will then be compiled into a quarterly magazine. Each category will have its own Feature Editor. You can read more about each of our Feature Editors and their respective sections in this issue.
Each of us has a different experience, and we can all learn from each other. Therefore, I encourage each of you to consider submitting articles for publication in the Catalyst.
I look forward to collaborating with you and hearing your stories.
