Judy Bristow is currently Vice President of Grants and Compliance at Louisville Healthcare CEO Council (CEOC). Prior to her current position, she was a Specialist Leader with Attain Partners, LLC, where she provided grant administration services for institutions of higher education across the country. Judy is also extremely committed to her involvement with the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI), the premier global research management society that provides professional development and education to professionals from over 40 countries and maintains the largest network of research managers in the world, having served two terms on the Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee; and Co-Chairing two Annual Meetings. She co-chairs the Basics of Research Administration Intensive program and is a PRAM review board member.
When not frolicking in the world of grant administration and compliance, Judy can be found hanging out with her Olde English Bulldog, Opal…who refuses to comply to anything other than exactly what Opal chooses!

Fall Session

Karen Mitchell

Director of Special Projects, Temple University

I love research administration and have found it to be a rewarding career. I have worked within our profession for over 25 years, starting at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHSCH) and moving to Temple University in 2014 as Director of Pre-award administration, rising to Assistant Vice President in the summer of 2018. I currently assist in the administration of sponsored projects, specifically pre-and post-award as well as supporting audits and sponsor reporting. During my tenure, Temple has advanced to a tier one University and currently has over $280 million in grants and contracts.

My passion for SRAI can be seen through my long history learning from members and contributing to our community, including serving as the Texas Chapter President (1994-95), Governance Committee member (2020 – present), and Chair of the Engagement and Diversity Committee (2020 – present) and most recently SRAI Distinguished Faculty.
