Program Instructors

Jason Guilbeault, MBA, CRA

Jason Guilbeault is the Associate Vice President for Sponsored Programs Administration at Augusta University, where he oversees all aspects of the University’s pre- and post-award operations. Mr. Guilbeault has over 15 years of experience in financial accounting, cost accounting, and grants management and compliance at various organizations, including MAXIMUS Consulting and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His expertise includes pre- and post-award grants management, Single Audit, indirect cost rates, internal controls, and process improvement. He is a Distinguished Faculty Member at the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI). He has published articles for the SRAI Catalyst, NCURA Magazine, and Thompson Grant Information Services, and has given over 50 presentations for various professional organizations. Mr. Guilbeault received his B.S. in Accounting from SUNY Empire State College, his M.B.A. from Augusta University, and is a Certified Research Administrator.

Marchon Jackson

Marchon Jackson is currently the Associate Vice President of Research at Howard University. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing Pre-Award, Post-Award, Research Development, and Technology Transfer. Marchon has more than two decades of experience in sponsored research, with a focus on post-award administration, compliance, and financial regulatory issues in higher education and industry. He earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Howard University and is also a board member of SRAI. Before joining Howard University, Marchon served as the Assistant Vice President at the University of Maryland, where he managed the university's research post-award operations, including billing and reporting, financial compliance, F&A/service center/fringe rate development, effort reporting, account setup, and university-wide training.

Laura Scarrantino, CPA, MSF

Laura Scarantino is the Assistant Vice President for Sponsored Project Accounting (SPAC) at the University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB). A proven professional, she has over 25 years of experience managing grants and contracts in private, NGO, and university environments. Currently, she partners with the Office of Research and Development and organizations within the schools to improve processes and relationships. She oversees the personnel, systems, policies, and procedures necessary to efficiently manage post-award accounting functions at UMB, ensuring financial compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and sponsor regulations for a portfolio valued over $600M annually.
 
Laura is a past president of the SRAI Chesapeake Chapter and is involved with UMB’s leadership programs, including the Research Compliance Council (RCC), SPAC Advisory Council (SAC), System Research Administrators Group (SRAG), Funding Model Work Group (FMWG), President's University Leadership Program (PULP), President's Council for Women (PCW), COVID Recovery Task Force, and Maryland Global Initiatives Corporation (MGIC).
