Bruce Steinert

Dr. Bruce Steinert is the Director of Clinical Research for Canter Treatment Centers of America at Midwestern Regional Medical Center. Dr. Steinert received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and doctoral degree in Pathology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1979 and 1985, respectively. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship in radiation oncology research at Wayne State University in Detroit from 1985 to 1988.
Dr. Steinert has been an investigator in basic laboratory, animal and human research studies. He has served as a member of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and Institutional Review Board (including two years as IRB Vice-Chair) at William Beaumont Hospital (Michigan). He was the founding director of the hospital’s Clinical Research Center. This center was responsible for all aspects of clinical trial management. In January 2003, he joined the staff of the Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, where he negotiated contracts and budgets for industry-sponsored clinical research. He moved to his current position in August 2005.
Dr. Steinert has coauthored more than 40 publications and book chapters in the areas of scientific research and research administration. He has presented numerous seminars and workshops in areas of scientific investigation and research administration. He was a panelist for the 2002 SRA teleconference on HIPAA and Confidentiality. In 1998, he received the SRA Hartford-Nicholsen Award for excellence in research administration. He has been accredited as a Certified Clinical Research Associate by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals since 1999 and was appointed to the SRA Distinguished Faculty in 2003. He has served on several Chapter, Section and Annual Meeting Program Committees and Co-Chaired the 2010 Annual Meeting Planning Committee (Chicago). He was Editor and Chair of the SRA News (1994 – 2005) and served as the Senior Associate Editor for the Journal of Research Administration (2005-2013).
Dr. Steinert was a charter member of both the Michigan and Illinois Chapters. He served as President of the Michigan Chapter (2000-2001) and President of the Midwest Section (2007-2008). Additionally, he served as an at-Large Member of the SRA Board of Directors (2006-2010) and has served as Director and Secretary of the Board and member of the Executive Committee since 2010.
