I am currently the Director of Sponsored Research and Programs at Illinois Institute of Technology. My first exposure in the field of Research Administration was as an Office Coordinator in a small research department at a hospital. Now, with over 20 years of experience, I have had the unique opportunity to see how research and its administration have changed and advanced over the years.
I have been an active member of the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI) since 1993. I have held various positions in SRAI at both the Section level (Awards Committee, Program Committee, Membership Committee, Newcomers, Secretary and President) and at the International Level (Awards Committee, Program Committee, Membership Committee, Track Co-Chair, Newcomers). My involvement with these committees have provided many experiences, including leadership, educational and training opportunities. These experiences along with both professional and personal bonds with other SRAI members have allowed me to give back to the Society.
Meeting other members of SRAI has allowed me to encourage individuals to become involved in the Society in various roles, whether it be on a committee, as a speaker or working behind the scenes. SRAI allows me to work with individuals to help them recognize their own strengths and allows me to provide encouragement to develop their careers.
As an At-Large Board Member I will endeavor to forge new bonds for future members’ advancement in the Society and look forward to helping SRAI grow.
