Back in the Saddle - New Beginnings in Research Administration this is the Texas Chapter theme as we begin our new chapter and look forward to the future. What does It mean to be ‘back in the saddle’? The term refers to resuming doing something that you stopped doing for some time. To us, it means, regrouping, and resetting our focus on the needs of our Texas members and providing them with the best information we can for their success now and in the future. It is with great enthusiasm and dedication that our leadership team has formed and are here to assist in your research administration career.

Our first Texas Chapter Meeting on June 17 at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, will be focused on research administration, meeting all of you, and taking the first steps in creating a chapter with you that will listen to you and provide you with the most up to date, ins and outs, lessons learned information we can. The Opening Reception will feature Dr. Emmerentie Oliphant, PhD, Professor and Director MSW Program, School of Social Work, Stephen F. Austin State University and time to meet your Texas Chapter Leadership Team.

We will provide concurrent sessions throughout the day with topic themes on Pre-Award, Post-Award, Leadership and Financial Management (if you are interested in presenting please email your Texas Chapter President, Mindali Dean at Mindali.dean@ttu.edu by May 10). The meeting will also include networking time, along with guest speakers, Gina Hedberg, President Southern Section, and Gloria Greene, SRAI Board of Directors-At Large, who will talk about SRAI: Past, Present and Future, and time to register new members, take volunteers for next year’s chapter meeting and one-on-one time to talk with your chapter leadership about your needs. Together, we are growing a chapter that we are proud of and will grow each year.

We look forward to seeing you at our Texas Chapter Meeting, in Fort Worth this June 16-18.  The meeting location is the new building at the University of North Texas Health Science Center.  Feel free to contact me, SRAI Texas Chapter President, Mindali Dean, at Mindali.dean@ttu.edu, with any questions or comments.
