New Approach to Research Evaluation and University World Rankings
Initial findings from the research evaluation working group of the International Network of Research Management Societies (INORMS) suggest that changes may need to be made, or at the very least that the ranking organizations themselves require a critical examination. Over the last two years, an international working group of INORMS has developed a new model and approach to evaluating research and the ranking agencies that influence many world university rankings. Working group members developed a five-step process called SCOPE that will assess ranking mechanisms in order to provide more transparency regarding good governance, measuring what matters, and rigor.
The initial findings of this work were recently published in the blogpost titled Rethinking the Rankings by Lizzie Gadd and Richard Holmes. To find the full blogpost, please visit: https://arma.ac.uk/rethinking-the-rankings/
