This article gives readers valuable insight of the importance of fiscal stewardship in the Society, and an overarching perspective of SRAI, now and in the future from the Treasurer's viewpoint.
I am honored to be the current Treasurer and Chair of the Development and Finance Committee for the Society of Researchers Administrators International (SRAI). I bring almost 20 years of experience as a research administrator in both pre- and post-award research administration supporting departments and central research administration operations to the Executive Leadership team. SRAI has been a positive force in my professional life, helping me to grow technical proficiency, refine management and leadership skills, and build a professional support network of many treasured SRAI colleagues.
I began my leadership role with SRAI in 2014, as the Northeast Section President Elect, served on the International Board of Directors and was elected Treasurer in 2019. I am a proud Distinguished Faculty Member and regular presenter at Section and Annual Meetings. I believe in the responsibility of our community to share knowledge and SRAI’s mission to provide superior, cost-effective education on the most pressing topics in the profession. As Treasurer, I continue to dedicate my efforts towards ensuring the fiscal health of the organization and proper stewardship of SRAI funds. I am particularly proud of SRAI’s successful navigation of the current and potential financial challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite a worldwide shutdown, SRAI has built new educational content, expanded access to new members through our pricing models and virtual programing while maintaining a strong fiscal footprint for the last 20 months.
While we have weathered many storms, the challenges of yesterday will continue to impact the Society in the coming years requiring discipline, focus, and dedication for successful navigation. I am running for re-election in order to entrench our victories, learn from our challenges, and maintain the organization’s innovative spirit and fiscal health. The foundation we are building today will foster the growth of the future of our profession and help SRAI continue its standard of excellence and history of cutting-edge innovation, both domestically and worldwide. Thank you for considering me for Treasurer in 2021 and for your support of SRAI.
