Annual Meeting – Bring Vegas to Your Team

We are less than two months away now from our annual meeting in Las Vegas at Caesar’s Palace.  And Tonya, Terry and I are excited!  We have a great program in store for you as well as a special closing keynote session – maybe even magical on Friday morning. The Co-Chairs and I are pleased to send you back with a few illusions courtesy of David Kristopher, Illusionist. Maybe you can try one out on one of your “favorite” principal investigators.

I know you’ve all heard the adage of ‘What Happens in Vegas – Stays in Vegas.’  Well, I have to ask you to make one exception to that. With all of the great sessions this year, Tonya, Terry, and I are positive you won’t leave what you have learned behind and take those with to your own institutions. You and your colleagues benefit from your attendance, especially when you obtain one of the four certificates we are offering this year. You can choose from either Research Law (obviously my favorite having been a co-track chair for several years in the past), Introduction to Research Management (IRAM), Pre-Award (PA), or Practice of Research Administration and Management (PRAM).

We’re also trying something new (or something old we’re bringing back) – Deep Dives. We have three sessions on Wednesday afternoon that are 1 1/2 hours in length to permit the topics to be covered in a bit more depth but not as intensive as a full or half day workshop. In particular, I want to call your attention to sessions on implementing NSPM-33 – now that draft guidelines have been posted for comment and another on the Managing Research Administration Staff in a remote work environment as we find that work after COVID is not the same.

So, if you haven’t registered yet, do so today. We anticipate that many of you are just as anxious as we are to get back together to network, advance our knowledge of the profession, and bring some magic into the event.
