Note from the Editor | Holiday Reflections

Happy Holidays from all of us at the Catalyst, as we conclude another calendar year and reflect on 2022. I’d like to thank Heather Brown and Mark Lucas for their hard work on the Research Administration Career Series that closes out this month. I highly recommend checking it out along with the back issue pieces, perhaps while enjoying one of the holiday drinks from the recipes under the Members Corner section.

In other news, SRAI’s podcast, Shop Talk, invites you to submit an audio clip about the joys of your work. If you are having trouble identifying what that might be, our article on Engagement Magic might help you and your colleagues find some joy and connection, whether by trying one of the strategies listed in the article or using it as a jumping off point to come up with your own.

Additionally, we have several NIH-related pieces this month – a Q&A on Grants Management and the NIH Boat Song (bonus points if you catch yourself singing rather than reading it) – and links to two articles from Research Professional News that resulted from their attendance at our 2022 SRAI Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.

As we draw closer to 2023, consider a New Year’s resolution or intention of submitting an article to the Catalyst, whether on your own or with a co-contributor, or volunteering in some other way within SRAI. As I repeat often, we are only as strong as our members, and we each have something worthwhile to contribute. I’m excited to see what that means for you!
