Note from the Editor | Everything in Your Beach Bag

The Beach Bag tote must be one of the greatest inventions in the history of man (and woman) kind. It goes easily from home, to beach, to places in between with great ease, while accommodating nearly everything a modern person and family would need for relaxation (keys, sunscreen, snacks, spare clothes, toys, food, reading material, iphones, etc.). This month’s Catalyst follows suit with the beach bag, providing you with a bit of everything for your summer.

For example, Anita Trupiano and Rani Muthukrishnan lead off our new Spotlight Series, with a review of ClinicalTrials.gov.

Lorrie Robins and Betty Morgan provide insights on Pre-Award, with highlights from their session at the Joint Section Meeting in Louisville, while Ian Carter summarizes the focus of equity and equitable partnerships from INORMS 2023 recently held in South Africa.

Looking forward, Mike Slocum outlines the value of the Research Law certificate program which will be available at the 2023 SRAI Annual Meeting in October.

Olumide Odeyemi raises the question about the need for a research administration career planning tool and how this might be developed, and in SRAI Off The Clock, Sabrina Heisey describes her volunteer experiences with a children’s rare disease charity, including examples of how research administrators’ skills can help volunteer organizations.

And of course, just for fun, don’t forgot to check out the Word Scramble (and the answers from last month’s crossword)!

So tuck your Catalyst in your beach bag and you’re good to go!  Rest, relax and recharge!
